Our Story
Hi, I’m Rachel — flower grower, seed sower, and mum — living in Peacocke, Hamilton with my husband Ben and our two children.
Before kids, I worked as a Legal Executive. I spent eight years at home raising our children, a proud Playcentre mum, and soaking up time with our little crew. With our youngest now at school, I felt ready to start something of my own — something flexible, creative, and close to home.
Harvest Bloom began after a summer visit to the Wanaka Lavender Farm. Wandering through rows of fragrant blooms, I felt completely inspired. Ben, seeing the spark in my eyes, simply said, “Why don’t you start your own flower farm?” That was all the encouragement I needed.
I came home, bought Cut Flower Garden by Erin Benzakein of Floret Farm, and fell headfirst into learning everything I could about growing cut flowers. From there came hours of digging, wheelbarrows of compost and topsoil, setting up irrigation, building a greenhouse, sowing hundreds of seeds, and, finally — the joy of first blooms.
Today, I grow seasonal flowers and share them with my local community. I believe flowers should be part of everyday life, not just for special occasions. They bring beauty, joy, and memories — and I feel incredibly lucky to grow them.
If you'd told me I’d trade office life for gumboots and gardening gloves, I never would have believed you. But I’m so glad I did.
Thanks for being here. I can't wait to grow with you.
